  • Data storage?

Posted by admin on February 16th, 2010 and filed under data storage | 4 Comments »

Hi, everyone. My shipping company lost a disk I was overnighting to WV, and they need the data now. The problem is that it’s a HUGE file (144MB - Photoshop). Is there a site that will let me upload the file so they can download it?
Thanks, everyone…. glitterkitty, you saved my butt!!! :-)
You can use megaupload up to 500 mb. I have used it before. Easy to use site.

BTW, I have the godaddy file folder mentioned above, and it does not work well for large files. You can upload them, but sharing them with other people doesn’t work well.

How do I get my computer back up after it has crashed from a virus? Can I get it back up?

My daughters computer gave her a message that it has been infected by a trojan worm and then it crashed. The only thing we can get up is the black and white screen that gives us the option to start windows normally or in the safe mode. When we click either one the WindowsXP comes up and then the screen goes blank. Is there anything we can do?

sounds like its too late for any recovery software, you will have to put in a Windows XP disk and do a format + Install.

How do I backup my saved files in case of uninstalling or crash?

The game I’m referring to is Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines for PC. I know how to backup saved files for my Sims game because everything is in my documents. But I really want to make a backup of my progress and saved games for the other one too. Does anyone have experience with this game and know how to do this?

Go to C drive-documents and settings(or wherever u installed ur operating system) and search(tick on ’search hidden, system folders) ur game name vampire…. And then you get folder then see the path that is the location of ur save game! Go and backup it!

What are some real simple things i might be able to do to get my computer back up to running normal speed?

Posted by admin on February 14th, 2010 and filed under computer back up | 5 Comments »

As far as figuring things out on the computer I am very good at that. Of course I would mess with and older model and this one is new and is having problems(speed wise) just pulling up Explorer. I’m sure there are some kind of scans or something very simple I can do to get it back acting right. I think it is cause I have a few other users not sure what they are doing and then my system is slower after them using it. Any simple ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I just saw another question like this earlier tonight and it was recommended to google up "slow computer" and I found a link that really helped me a lot!!!!! I just ran thru the services files in windows and disable some of them or set them to manual (I’m not on a network of workstations and so forth….) It was found on this link I’m giving you that Windows has gotten so big over the years that it sure does take a lot of system resources just to run them all, especially when you don’t need to run them all on "automatic"….

try this out….My machine is only a year old, but now it’s at lightening speed like it was before…believe me, having a 2.6G processor running slower after a year isn’t funny, not to mention that I’ve got almost 3G of memory on this thing too!….It’s Window’s unneccessary services that you have to work with…to get your machine to run its peak performance its made to do so….

    http://www.masternewmedia.org/news/2006/04/12/slow_computer_speed_up_your.htm

This was really a great recommendation and I’m soooo happy to get my machine running like new again!

Be sure to let us know how this worked for you…It’s really a solution to go by!!!! Good Luck! and be sure to FOLLOW the INSTRUCTIONS at the near bottom of the article (where it tells you how to click start and run services.msc and then go thru the long list to take care of the culprit services you DON’T need! Then you can come back and it burns now baby!!!!!

I would also suggest that after you do this to try and online PC registry clean up and make sure that all your cookies and history are cleared out too…Most registry scanners will remove unneccessary redundant files that take up space! Good Luck and BURN BABY, BURN!

windows xp backup utility required Fat32 or NTFS format of disk?

Both will work, but I will suggest you to go for NTFS(Quick) because it is fast and will put less load on your hard drive that is the option top notch tech select.

What is the best and most user-friendly backup software that will do incremental backups?

Posted by admin on February 12th, 2010 and filed under backup | 3 Comments »

I need a user-friendly backup application that will allow me to do incremental backups and complete backups. I would like the files compressed to zip and stored on an external hard drive and simultaneously burned to a DVD.

    Any recommendations?

When I reformat my hard drive, will this backup drive be unaffected?

Posted by admin on February 7th, 2010 and filed under hard drive backup | 2 Comments »

So Norton put in a "Norton Backup Drive" on my computer. It’s not an actual drive, nor do I think it’s a partition of some sort. For all I know it could be, but f I were to reformat, would this wipe everything out from there as well from my C: drive? Or would it still be there and ready to be used for its intended purpose of backing all my stuff up?

    you would lose everything.

    Laptop Brand- Toshiba Satellite A305-S6898
Someone please help me i am in a trouble…

    1
Open the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel". Click the first icon labeled "System and Maintenance". Choose the "Backup and Restore Center".

    2
Locate the "Restore Files or your entire computer" section. Select the "Advance restore" option.

    3
Choose the option that best fits your needs. Files can be restored individually or through the advanced option. The advanced option is best if the backup was created on another computer.

    4
Choose the appropriate option from the menu that appears. From the advanced menu, the options are to restore from the latest created backup, an older backup or a backup created on another computer.

    5
Click the "Add files" button to select individual files to restore. Click the "Add folder" button to select entire folders. If you need to restore the entire backup, check the box at the top of the prompt.

    6
Choose where you would like the files saved. If you created the backup on the current computer, choose to save in the original location unless you would like to restore the backup files to another folder.

Does a Complete PC Backup Backup Everything?

Posted by admin on February 7th, 2010 and filed under pc backup | 1 Comment »

Ok what im asking is does a complete pc backup backup EVERYTHING, like

Files, Folders, Registry, Startup programs, settings and installed programs

so its exactly the same as before?

    Thanks

P.s. I have windows Vista Enterprise, and im backing up to a hard drive

it seems you want to backup your computer… and use that complete set later (if required)
A data backup would only take data…not the settings… by that it means you can replace the data back to your computer… your docs and files will open… but your setting like registry, installed programs will not work..
